Great Plains Aircraft Type 4 Long Block Conversion Kits will convert any customer supplied 1700cc or 1800cc Type 4 engine into a 2200cc engine or a 2000cc Type 4 engine into a 2400cc powerhouse. These kits contain all the necessary conversion parts to convert your engine and all machine work is included in the price. You send your case, crank, heads and connecting rods to us and we'll do the necessary machine work and return these parts along with the necessary bearings, etc., for you to complete the assembly of the engine. Type 4 engines can be outfitted with dual ignition, just like the Type 1 engine can. If you are looking for a truly affordable engine conversion package, this could be your answer.

A note of history: The Type 1 and Type 3 engines were originally installed in the VW Bug, Karmann Ghia, Fastback and early Transports. The Type 1 engine parts are still being manufactured in Mexico and Brazil. The Type 2 and Type 4 were originally installed in the VW Transport and the Porsche 914. Limited new replacement items are available for the Type 2 & 4.
