Top Ten Reasons
to Fly With a
Great Plains
VW Based Sport Aircraft Engine
1. Family Owned. Great Plains Aircraft Supply Company Inc., is independently owned and has been operated by Steve Bennett for 22 consecutive years.
2. Debt Free. No corporate mergers to pay for. No company jet, no exorbitant salaries, and no fancy facilities. Great Plains Aircraft applies sound business practices to everyday business opportunities.
3. No Dealer Program. At Great Plains Aircraft we sell our products directly to the consumer. We do not sell through dealers. This saves the consumer an average of $750.00 on a $5000.00 purchase.
4. Experience. Unlike many companies in the kit aircraft business, Great Plains Aircraft offers 22 years of experience that reflects in the quality of the product and product support. Some companies past and present, offer experiments.
5. Service. With 22 years of business ownership and over 30 years of continuous VW engine service experience, Great Plains Aircraft services what we sell, but we also service past and current competitors engines. We can, and do, rebuild and supply parts for VW conversion engines made by HAPI, Mosler, TEC, Monnett Experimental, Aero-Vee, RevMaster, Sauer, Rectimo and non-certified Limbachs.
6. Value. Because we do not have a dealer program, we offer some of the most competitive pricing on VW Sport Aircraft Conversion Engines. In fact, our 76 HP engine kit is priced at about half of a 80 HP Jabiru or Rotax 912.
7. Quality. In our 22 years of continuous business (not to be confused with intermittent or combined) experience with VW engines, we have learned a tremendous amount of knowledge about the way these engines operate in aircraft. Many of our specialized products have been designed as a result of what failures we have seen in the market place. Our 76 hp 2180cc engine uses a crankshaft and prop hub designed for the rigors of aircraft use. Our engines feature true dual ignition, with two plugs per cylinder each, with an independent drive and power source. Any Great Plains Aircraft magneto equipped engine can be started by hand. One of our competitors engines will leave you stranded, if the starter or the battery for the starter fails.
8. Testing. At Great Plains Aircraft, we do not want the consumer to be part of an experiment. All major components are ground tested for minimum of 100 hours before being released for sale. One exception to this is the Rear Drive System. This system was static tested for 100 hours, 50 as a pusher and 50 hours in a tractor configuration and then tested on the company airboat for a total of 344 hours prior to being released.
9. Support. Great Plains Aircraft offers product support via e-mail, fax, and a toll free 800 telephone number in the US Only. Additionally, we attend numerous fly-ins during the year where we conduct seminars on the VW engines. As well as workshops at these fly ins on how to assemble a VW engine.
10. Full Product Line. At Great Plains Aircraft we offer much more than an engine in a box - a one style fits all. Whether you are building a Sonerai, KR, Dragonfly, Volksplane, Taylor Monoplane, Cygnet, Folker Tri-Plane, Nieuport 11, Teenie Two, Preceptor Pup, Avid, Kit Fox, Youngster, Avenger, V-Max, Stewart Headwind, Pober Pixie, Flaglor Scooter, Hummel Bird, Wind Wagon, Easy Eagle, Sonex or even an Airboat, Great Plains Aircraft has VW engines and kits to fit all of these different aircraft and many more.
From individual engine components to front drive, rear drive and reduction drive engines, we can configure a VW engine to fit over 50 different VW Powered kit aircraft world wide.
