This is an unique application for the Great Plains' Rear Drive System!

This six passenger HoverCraft was built by Garbez Custom Welding in Griswold, Iowa, for a customer in England.

Mike Garbez worked closely with the owner, Sanjay Thakrer to build the HoverCraft. This highly modifed HoverCraft began with a rubber dinghy from Korea. The boat was shipped from Korea to England and then to the US.

We at Great Plains built the 2180cc Rear Drive engine and delivered it to Garbez. Mike designed and built the engine mount as well as fabricating the mountings for the seats. He also modifed the exhaust system provided (it was for an airplane). Instruments were purchased and installed in the cockpit. Mike designed the electrical wiring needs and set up the throttle and navigational requirements. He also installed was a GPS with World Map to navigate the waters around England.

We at Great Plains also worked closely with Kohler and the HoverCraft's owner to determine the lift needs. We provided Mike the Motor and Crowley Fan. Mike fabricated the duct and installed the Kohler engine into the front of the boat.

The boat is presently having a top made and then the HoverCraft and Trailer will be shipped by sea to England! We anxiously await pictures of the HoverCraft in use!
